Introduction of Sand Casting

Sand Casting refers to the casting method for producing castings in sand moulds. Steel, iron, and most nonferrous alloy castings can be obtained by sand casting. Because of the molding material is low for sand casting, mould manufacturing is simple, the single production of casting, mass production all can adapt. For a long time, it has been the basic process in the casting production.

The materials used for making sand molds are called molding materials. The materials used to make sand molds are customarily called sand molding. The molding materials used for making sand cores are called core sand. Usually sand is made of raw sand, clay and water in a certain proportion. Sometimes, adding a small amount of additives such as coal plant oil, wood chips to improve the performance of molding sand and the core sand.
